Zvezda’s judokas perform historically in the Champions League

Zvezda’s judokas, whose team is sponsored by our company Millennium  Team, has made sports history again. The red-and-white team has written golden pages by winning a bronze medal in Bucharest in elite club contest – the Champions League. The team of Miša Morohojev, Strahinja Bunčić, Uali Kurhev, Filip Živojinović, Stefan Majdov, Nemanja Majdov, Dmitri Gerasimenko, Ivajilo Ivanov and captain Bojan Došen under professional management of coaching trio - Aleksandar Trpković, Ljubiša Majdov and Andrija Đurišić, managed to win the bronze medal in the final duel against home team CSM Bucharest and to write golden pages of Serbian judo history once again.

 -I congratulate the boys on another outstanding result. We have completed everything we promised and achieved historical success once again. We owe special gratitude to a visionary and honour president of our club Ivan Todorov, Stojan Vujko, president of the Board of Directors of Crvena zvezda Judo Club, pointed out. 

At the elite club contest Zvezda’s judokas had the first match against Edelweiss team from Grozny (Russia) which they lost 4:1. Still, Zvezda clearly showed what makes it the best in the first round. The duel with an excellent team of Valencia ended with 3:2.

Strahinja Bunčić, Crvena zvezda’s young star, opened the match in the category up to 66 kilograms with the victory against Gar Uriarte, which undoubtedly stimulated the team. Bunčić was equally successful in the duel with CSM Bucharest that also ended with 3:2.

-I am glad that I managed to win and thereby contribute to great winning atmosphere. I would like to congratulate to all my friends from the club on a fantastic participation in the Champions League, Bunčić pointed out.

Nemanja Majdov current vice champion of Europe and holder of the World Championship title did not hide his satisfaction over the fact that they were able to win the bronze medal in League of Champions, the strongest club judo competition in the world.

-The impressions are phenomenal with the best yet to come. We were successful once again in achieving the greatest success in history of Serbian club judo sport. All of the guys on the team gave their best - emphasised Nemanja Majdov.

Team leader Bojan Došen presented its quality once again and lead the team in the best possible manner to a historical success in League of Champions.

-All of the team members were equally important in achieving of this success and I would like to congratulate all club members as well as Zvezda fans that came in large numbers to give us their support. We have been in the very top of the sport since winning the bronze medal in 2014 in League of Europe followed by a silver medal in 2016, while now we were successful in winning the bronze medal in League of Champions. Zvezda is a great club and now we have to focus our attention on a time ahead of us and try our best to achieve new victories- emphasised Bojan Došen.

The history of club competitions for Crvena Zvezda begins in 2014 when judo club Crvena zvezda wrote the first chapters of sports history by managing to win the bronze medal in Hoofddorp as well as when the club returned with the vice champion title from League of Europe held in Belgrade in 2016. Zvezda made its first debut in League of Champions in Vienna 2016, when they came 7th while in Ankara League of 2017 they were just one step away from winning the medal, which they finally won in 2018.
