Belgrade Mayor Siniša Mali toured the construction site of two residential towers within the Belgrade Waterfront project, expressing satisfaction with the realisation of works in this phase being ahead of schedule.
– It is a pleasure to see domestic companies and construction workers performing works under all weather conditions in order for the project to be completed within the timeline. The foundation stone was laid on September 27 and only two months later, we works’ realisation was ten days ahead of schedule. Almost all excavation works have been completed, as well as the search for the bombs that may have remained from both world wars. No bombs were found – Mali stated.
He announced placing of over 400 support piles for two future residential towers would start today, while the excavations for the Belgrade Tower and the W were supposed to take place within next two months.
– We expect that the works above ground level on all four buildings will start in the spring. That is well ahead of schedule that we set, which confirms we have a strong construction industry and experts capable of responding to this great challenge. The Belgrade Waterfront project has started giving first results, because the state and the local self-government demonstrated responsibility in fulfilling obligations toward the investor, which contributed to an increased interest in investments in the Serbian capital in new investors, the Mayor said.
Mali reminded that, 241 facilities were downed in that area, with only five remaining, which, for now, do not obstruct the dynamic of works. So far, 97 families have been moved to new apartments, within the first phase, while 74 families were relocated in the second phase and the works of this phase are currently conducted on a full scale.
