Rehabilitation of the city landfill in Prokuplje will start next week, and works worth 150 million dinars on the surface of 16 hectares will be finished by the end of the year.

Contract on conducting works on the rehabilitation, closing and reclamation of the city dump site was signed by the Mayor of the Municipality Milan Arsović and the consortium Porr- Millennium Team from Belgrade.

Funds for these works were secured by the Ministry of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning. State Secretary in the Ministry for Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Vladimir Jovanović was present at the signing of the contract.

According to Arsović, first phase of works involves cleaning of the existing dump site by the river Toplica, not far from the town centre itself, which will solve the years-long problem and secure a healthier environment for the citizens.
