A contract  on construction of secondary sewage network in Surčin – Staro jezgro, worth RSD 131 million, has been signed in the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency in the presence of City Manager Goran Vesić. The contract was signed by Branislav Popović, Head of the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency, and on behalf of our company Stojan Vujko, General Manager of Millennium Team.

Vesić said on that occasion that the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency had allocated RSD 12.3 bln in 2016 for infrastructural projects in the city.

’The sewerage project in Staro jezgro, Surčin is among the most important ones. This project is worth RSD 131 million and has been in development for several years. It will include 45 km of sewerage in Surčin,’ said Vesić, adding that the works in Surčin should start in 15 days.

He added that the background of that project included the former municipal authorities in Surčin scamming citizens and taking money for sewerage that was never built.

’With this project we will finish the sewerage, while the next step will be to connect several thousands of households to it. This is a part of our city project that we adopted last November and that includes connecting every household to waterworks and sewerage systems over the next ten years,’ Vesić reiterated, adding that the project was worth about EUR 1 bln: 300 million for wastewater plants and 700 million for the missing network.

Stojan Vujko, General Manager of Millennium Team, which is the contractor, expressed satisfaction that that company, together with the city of Belgrade, was taking part in the ambitious project of covering all the city municipalities with a city network and purification plants for the sewage network over the next ten years.

’The deadline for construction in Surčin is 240 calendar days, but due to its importance for citizens, we are certain we will meet the deadline or, if possible, finish before the deadline, said Vujko.

Surčin Mayor, Stevan Šuša, said that that was the most important project for the Surčin municipality in the last several decades.

’I have to point out that sewerage is the main problem of the entire Surčin municipality. Our municipality is the first one in which sewerage will be built in line with that project of the city of Belgrade,’ Šuša said.

A sewage network, 45 km long, will be constructed in Staro jezgro, Surčin. This will enable the drainage of used water for the citizens of Staro jezgro, Surčin, as well as connection to the sewage network for schools, kindergartens and collective housing facilities.

Contract signing was also attended by Svetozar Veselinović, Head of Public Utility Company ’Belgrade Waterworks and Sewerage’, as well as a delegation of the Surčin municipality.
